Hello, I am Hermann Hesse. Today, I want to share a thought that remains as relevant now as it was when I first penned it: "The greatest threat to our world and its peace comes from those who want war, who prepare for it, and who, by holding out vague promises of future peace or by instilling fear of foreign aggression, try to make us accomplices to their plans." In my time, this insight was a reflection of the growing tides of militarism and manipulation. We saw nations driven not by a genuine pursuit of peace, but by an insidious readiness for war. Leaders fueled the fires of conflict by preying on fear, convincing people that aggression was a necessity for survival, or worse, a path to future stability. Promises of peace often masked preparations for violence, leaving societies trapped in cycles of mistrust and bloodshed.
